Dismissal or Terminating your Contract Early
Camp owners (and the agencies that represent them) require strict adherence to codes of conduct from their staff while working at the camp. The safety, welfare and enjoyment of the children are of paramount importance so behavior or conduct from counselors that detract from those goals can lead to the termination of the counselor’s contract. Most camps operate an ‘at will’ employment contract, meaning that either the camp owners or the employee can terminate the contract ‘at will’ at any time.

Before you sign any employment contract make sure that you are fully familiar with the terms and conditions of your contract and what is required of you. If you are a smoker you need to accept that you will be unable to smoke on camp grounds, and the use of alcohol is prohibited at all times.
Depending on the nature of the dismissal a camp will be obliged to pay a pro-rata salary to the employee upon termination of their contract (the same condition applies should the employee decide to terminate early), but check the conditions of the contract for stipulations of an ‘all or nothing’ clause.
